Dog sense

How do dogs know?  We brought Shasta a doggie bed from Costco today and she seemed to know something was up from the minute we drove into the driveway.  How do dogs know?  She does this every time we bring her something (and not when we don’t):

‘That’s for me, isn’t it?  It IS!  It’s for me!  I just know it!  Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!’

The cats seem to know who the bed belonged to from the beginning, too.  Although Shasta didn’t seem to care when we picked Boo up and put him on the new doggie bed, he immediately sprung right off it, as if he knew it wasn’t meant for him.

Animals are so weird!

Several years ago when I bought my dog a new bed, she acted the same way, and then she peed in it. Somebody said she was marking her territory. I guess it was her way of saying, "I like it."

You said the "pee" word! Our former cats peed on Shasta's first bed, which is why we hesitated to get this one. Now I'm worried...
