Partying with your adult kids: awesome or awful?

Elisabeth ran the Rock and Roll Half Marathon this morning. Then she and her housemates had a party to celebrate some of their 25th birthdays and we were invited!

I took so many pictures that the only efficient way to show them all is with a slideshow:

Is it weird that we occasionally party with our kids? Normally, "partying" just means hanging out at home with them and sometimes a few of their friends. But this was a barbecue hosted by Elisabeth at her house, with lots of 20-something friends. I was honored that she invited her whole family!

One of the many things I love about Germany is the fact that "prom" there is about partying WITH the family and all the kids. It's one, giant celebration of having finished the state-mandated education.

This looks like everyone had a great time!

I don't think it's awesome OR awful- just the way your particular family rolls. :)

We don't really party with our kids, but we do hang out with them a lot(when they're around) and our 23 year old does have a beer (or champagne) at times. I wouldn't call it partying though unless that involves playing games or working on puzzles, while doing some drinking!

I would have loved to have my 25th birthday with my mom... thankfully, I got to have it with my Swiss mom and our co-volunteers with Hadassah (the youngest of whom is 20 years older than me!)

They couldn't convince me to drink anything other than water, but they did have two awesome cakes for me. :)

I can only hope and pray that at 25 my son would invite me. I think it's a sign of a great relationship. :)
