It is very special and if others did this, there would be so much of our lives and family histories that is not forgotten. Was your grandfather or father an artist during the war? The letter mentioned that your grandfather went back into the house to retrieve art that "he was working on."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31107400.post-19215284469110239072013-07-08T00:23:39.080-07:002013-07-08T00:23:39.080-07:00This story and others similar to it are very impor...This story and others similar to it are very important. Only by hearing these from many voices will we be able to construct a mental picture of those times and the horrendous experiences people endured. Please thank your father for allowing you to share his experiences and the wonderful letters to his grandsons.Jeannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13242705000172622026noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31107400.post-60912736122996187962013-06-18T06:27:20.483-07:002013-06-18T06:27:20.483-07:00wow, it's good that these stories get passed o...wow, it's good that these stories get passed on so we never forget. My aunt has also transcribed letters from her (and my father's) mother to her own mother, from the 1910s to 1944, when she died of a brain tumor. Perhaps one day I'll do something with both of those works.....Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07918419288660146429noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31107400.post-50383391476600119882013-06-07T19:11:06.962-07:002013-06-07T19:11:06.962-07:00What an incredible legacy and history your father ...What an incredible legacy and history your father is passing on! I imagine his stories are fascinating. Has he(or you?) written them all down or done an oral history?
